Hello Families,
As you may have heard, CPS is moving to a mask optional model starting Monday, March 14th. I have already had conversations with the students regarding this upcoming change and we had productive and meaningful discussions together as a group.
I have attached a google form (it is completely optional to fill out) however it would help me to get an idea of which students are planning on wearing masks on Monday and which students are not. This information will not be shared with anyone else. I value your partnership and do not want a situation where families are requesting that their child wear a mask at school and they are taking it off in school.
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScn9-tpSaT9yj16j9l0dU_QqH4jOhawU0i77PMKbP5pTYZQIg/viewform?usp=sf_link
Again, it is completely optional to fill out and every student and family decision will be respected. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
IAR testing for 3rd grade students only begins the week of March 21st.
Thanks and have a great week!

Week of 9/20-9/24
Hello Families,
Thank you for being so flexible during the transition to remote learning for a bit for those students whose classrooms are currently remote. Like last year, all assignments will be posted under the correct grade/subject tab and students will only see assignments that are assigned to them. Please ensure students do not just click "turn in" without completing the assignments, as this occurred numerous times last year. Students will always be directed as to which assignment to complete and when.
I have emailed individual student schedules. If you did not receive one, please email me as soon as possible. The link for class each day will be posted in this Google Classroom stream.
If any families received paper copies of work, you may either upload it to google classroom, email it to me or turn it in when students return to school.
Thank you again and have a great week!
Week of 9/13-9/17
Hello Families,
I hope everyone had a great weekend! As we head into week 3, we will be really diving into our reading/writing and math material, as well as starting our center and small group rotations.
*As a reminder, reading logs (if your student sees me for reading) will be given to students every Monday and returned filled out on Friday. Math homework is sent home daily and should be completed nightly and returned the next day.
Thank you and please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great week!
Week of 9/6-9/10
Hello Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. We had a great first week of school! The students are starting to get into the routine and we are beginning to dive right in. This week (Tuesday and Wednesday) I will be assessing students in reading during their reading/writing block to help me get a better understanding of their present level of performance (this is only for students who see me for reading).
Additionally, students are expected to read at least 20 minutes each night (any book they want!) and this will count as a reading homework grade if I see and grade your student in reading. The reading logs will be sent home on Monday (Tuesday this week) and will be due every Friday, along with any other homework sent home. I have made sure all students have a homework folder they can take to and from school, however, if students need one, please let me know!
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns!
Have a great week!
Week of 8/30-9/3
Hello Families,
I hope everyone had a safe, healthy and enjoyable summer! I am looking forward to this new school year and working with your children. Unfortunately, due to another meeting conflict, I was unable to attend the grade level orientations on Wednesday so I wanted to send this email to update you on our class specifically.
I am still finalizing schedules, but students will be seeing me during the blocks in which their homeroom classes teach the subject areas they see me for. For example (If homeroom 114 teaches reading from 9:00-10:30, students in that homeroom will see me during that time period for reading, according to their IEP minutes).
Students will be picked up and dropped off by either myself or a SECA from their homerooms.
Below my signature line is the new Ray Website and my Weebly Blog website. These websites provides important information for my class and Ray school, as well as suggested supply lists and methods of communication including Remind. (Many supplies on the supply list overlap with student homeroom supply list and that is okay! Please do not double buy for my class-students can transport them from class to class!) The Weebly blog is updated weekly.
*As a reminder, masks are mandatory in school this year. I would recommend sending multiple masks that you child can keep in my classroom or in their backpack for backup.
Additionally, please let me know if you are unsure of your student's homeroom teacher ASAP!
Thank you and I am looking forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday at 8:45 AM!
Hello Families,
As you may have heard, I am still locked out of CPS systems. I have assigned math and reading skills on IXL, book on EPIC, as well as books to read on RAZ Kids. I will also be posting usernames/class codes to log on in cause students do not remember their login information.
Additionally, I will be posting assignments to this website with grade level/subject specific right above this post, as I am unable to post on Google Classroom. I am hoping we can be back together soon whether it is online or in person!

Week of 3/22-3/26
Hello Families,
I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful spring weather! This is our last full week of school before spring break. Please ensure students are on time and present each day.
Please continue to look at student schedules to ensure students (primarily remote students) are attending their classes at the correct time.
A few upcoming important dates:
March 29-April 2nd: Spring Break
April 16th: No school for students (School Improvement Day and End of Quarter 3)
April 21st: Report Card Pickup
Thank you and have a great week!
Week of 3/15-3/19
Hello Families,
I hope everyone had a great weekend.
Progress reports were made available on Friday, 3/12. We have 2 full weeks until spring break, which is the week of 3/29-4/2. Please ensure students are present and on time daily for these next two weeks!
For the most part, students are adjusting well to the new schedules. Please email me if you need me to re-send your student's schedule or go over the schedule with you or your student.
As a reminder, students should be reading daily for at least 20 minutes and any unfinished work for remote students needs to be completed during the asynchronous work time.
Thank you again for your support and cooperation during this time!
Week of 3/8-3/12
Hello Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
A few quick reminders:
1. Progress reports will be available this Friday, 3/12.
2. Students who are learning in-person, please ensure they have a water bottle, as the drinking fountains are out of use. Students can only use the drinking fountains for water bottle refills. I had many students last week ask me to get a drink of water and unfortunately, they are not able to use the fountains without a water bottle
3. Please ensure you complete the daily health screener before entering the building. I would suggest completing it before you leave your house as it does take a little bit of time to update in the system and for staff to see if the students are cleared to enter the building. This will help to ensure students can enter the building at the exact time they are scheduled to enter.
4. Overall, students did a great job with the new schedules this week. Please continue to refer to updated student schedules. I will keep reminding students of their new schedules/class times.
Thank you again for your cooperation and support during this transition.
Week of 3/1-3/5
Hello Families,
This week there is a lot of important information, especially for students who are coming into the building! I am looking forward to seeing the in person students and to continue virtually seeing our remote students!
Remote Students: Please look at your new schedules, as there are some changes in times for subject areas, as well as our Wednesday schedule looks a little different. If you have not received your schedule, please let me know ASAP. Students will come to me like they have been doing at their scheduled time block for the subjects they see me in.
Hybrid Students:
Start and End Times and Arrival/Dismissal Locations:
Kindergarten: 8:30-3:30-Arrival and Dismissal on the North Playground by the Auditorium Doors
2nd Grade: 9:00-4:00-Arrival and Dismissal on the North Playground by the Auditorium Doors
3rd Grade: 8:45-3:45-Arrival and Dismissal will be at the Main Entrance off of Kimbark.
Every student MUST complete the daily health screener and pass a temperature check each day they are learning in person. Temperature checks will be done prior to students walking upstairs to their classrooms.
Health Screener Link: https://chicagopsprod.service-now.com/health
Snacks: Kindergarten and 2nd Grade students must bring their own snack if they wish to eat a snack during second recess. Snacks will be kept in student backpacks until second recess. I will not be providing snacks, however, the school will have extras for those who qualify or forget.
Assignments: Remote students will continue completing daily assignments through Google Classroom. In person students will complete paper assignments/activities throughout the week, as well as some online assignments as well. They will still be using IXL, EPIC and some Google Classroom assignments while in the classroom, as well as on Wednesday's, which are our remote only days.
Kindergarten and 2nd grade choice board activities for remote students will still be completed as normal. For in person students, choice board activities will be completed during times in which students are participating in small group instruction (at their desk) when they are not receiving direct instruction from me or when there is any down time throughout the day.
Supply List for In-Person Students
-CPS Issued Computer Device-This is extremely important, as students will still be doing some work/activities using their Chomebrooks, as I am simultaneously teaching both the in person and remote students. *Students will have their own personal book bin and pencil box to keep their supplies in, as there will be no sharing of any supplies.

In person and remote Individual student schedules have been sent out. Please email me if you did not receive your student's schedule.
As of now, the schedule's are tentative, as we try to figure out what works best for all of us. I have canceled office hours this week however, I am always available via email and will be checking it throughout the day.
*On Thursday, 2/25, I will be hosting a Q and A session regarding the re-opening plans. This is a time set aside for you to ask any questions you may have regarding school reopening and hybrid instruction, as well as give an outline of what the day will look like for students. I will do my best to answer all questions or direct you to the right person if I am unsure. I will be hosting this session from 2:30-3:30 PM using our regular meet link! (posted below)

As soon as more information becomes available regarding the re-opening, I will send another email update. Please be on the lookout for at least one more this week!
Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this time.
Week of 1/18-1/22
Hello Families,
As a reminder there is no school tomorrow, January 18th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Quarter 2 ends in 3 weeks. Students can turn in any missing work from the quarter until February 3rd.
Please ensure students are reading daily for at least 20 minutes. Additionally, I have come across some student IXL accounts where students have been completing activities below their grade/ability levels, which are way too easy for them. Students are assigned specific skills and activities on IXL weekly based on their grade and ability level and should be completing those. If they need more activities and/or enrichment skills throughout the week to complete, I will assign more.
Thank you and have a great week!
School News/Robocall:
Hello Families,
There are many important updates in this email so please be sure to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
This week, Principal Neely, along with each grade level team is hosting parent meetings for remote and hybrid families on what learning will look like for both remote and hybrid students once we return. If families are returning for hybrid instruction, you MUST attend the hybrid meeting. This is mandatory for in person students and students will not be able to enter the building on February 1st if families have not attended the meeting. Please look out for a google meet link invite from either myself or your student's homeroom teacher. The meeting schedule is above. There are 2 makeup days for hybrid families on Thursday and Friday.
INFORMATION FOR HYBRID FAMILIES ONLY:
- Please ensure students bring an extra mask or two to keep at school in case one gets dirty or wet during recess and they need to swap one out.
- All students MUST complete the health screener daily before entering the building. I believe QR codes will be posted on the doors of Ray so you can just scan it with your phone and complete it before entering.
- As of now, students who are attending in person instruction must bring back their devices if Ray issued them a school computer. As soon as I get more information about this, I will update you.

Week of 1/11-1/15
Hello Families,
I hope everyone had a good weekend!
Please be on the lookout in the coming weeks for information regarding the school reopening plan. If your student is attending the hybrid option, please speak with them about what school may look like (mask wearing all day, social distancing etc) so they will know what to expect when they arrive at school. More information will be forthcoming.
Reminders:
-There are 4 weeks left of Quarter 2
-There is no school next Monday, January 18th in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Thank you and have a great week!
Week of 1/4-1/8
Hello Families,
Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a relaxing, safe and healthy break. There are 5 weeks left of quarter 2 so please ensure students are on time and ready to learn each day! A few reminders:
1. There is no school Monday, January 18th in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
2. Please be on the lookout this week for an update on what hybrid learning will look like for students, starting February 1st, as well as for the students who have chosen to stay remote.
Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions!
Please see the letter below from the PTO newsletter this morning:
Hello Ray Warriors, Happy New Year! With the upcoming plans going into effect for either continued remote learning or the hybrid option, we know that many parents have questions about what to expect. We want parents to understand that reducing the spread of the coronavirus means that many aspects of the traditional school model will be changed for those who return to in-person learning, and as a result, the school day could also look different for families who continue with remote learning. (The current plan for in-person learning is for students to come to Ray either Monday-Tuesday or Thursday-Friday from 8:45-3:45.) We want you to know that Ray teachers and staff will do everything in their power to keep everyone safe for those who choose the hybrid model of learning. You can expect more information about grade band meetings (such as Kindergarten-2nd grade) via google meet in the coming weeks so that families can learn more about the specifics of what to expect for students in different grades. But we do know a few things about in-person learning that we think are important for parents to know so that they can make the best choice for their families:
-- Students who opt for in-person learning should not expect to have their regular classroom teacher;
-- Many teachers will be teaching remote learning students and in-person students at the same time;
-- Teachers and staff will be enforcing the 6-foot distance model. This means that we can't do group activities as we have in the past. PreK and Kindergarten teachers will not be able to physically comfort children who are having a difficult time adjusting to the new rules.
-- PreK students will have rest time for 1 hour every day. During rest time they will not wear their masks.
-- Children will go outside for recess but they cannot use the playground equipment.
-- Ray has a care room where children who exhibit symptoms of sickness will go to wait until their parents can pick them up. If a child's immune system is compromised, such as because they have a cold or strep throat, they could be in the same waiting room as a child who has covid 19.
-- Many Ray teachers have health issues or live with family members who have health issues and who might not survive a brush with covid 19.
-- If more families choose to continue with remote learning, that means that more Ray teachers can continue to teach from home.
If you selected the hybrid plan and you would like to change your mind and continue with remote learning for now, please email Principal Neely ([email protected]) and let her know this.
Sincerely, Katie Gruber
President of Friends of Ray PTO

Hello Families,
This week there is NO SCHOOL for students this Wednesday, 11/18 for report card pick up conferences. If you have not already signed up for a time, please let me know ASAP!
Last week students did an awesome job completing assignments and using IXL. Please ensure they know their usernames/passwords (if you need them please email me). Please also ensure students are reading for at least 20 minutes and practicing reading and spelling their sight words/individualized skillwork words each day as well.
As a reminder, students can complete and turn in any missing assignments past the due date for credit.

Week of 11/9-11/13
Hello Families,
Welcome to the 2nd Quarter!
I hope we can continue to make attendance and work completion a priority during this quarter. There will be an attendance incentive for students who attend all classes during the month of November.
Report card pickup will be held on Wednesday, 11/18 from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM. Please look for a separate email outlining details.
A few reminders:
1. We will be using IXL daily this quarter. I have assigned individual skills/tasks for students to complete on IXL right through Google Classroom. All they will have to do is click on it and sign in with their username/password. 3rd Grade weekly skillwork will now be on IXL rather than on the google documents from 1st quarter.
2. Please make sure students are reading daily on EPIC 3.
All assignments that are not finished in class will be homework/need to be completed during the asynchronous time period, especially the individual IXL skillwork practice. This is something students will generally not have time to work on during live instruction unless they finish early so please ensure they work on this extra practice while they are offline, as it is a weekly grade. Thank you again for your continued support and I am looking forward to a great 2nd quarter of learning!
School News/Robocall
This week is the beginning of a fresh start, quarter 2. From our YTD 95% attendance rate to 100’s of students achieving on track status, we have a lot to celebrate Ray Families.

-3rd Grade: Please turn in your scary story writing from last week if you have not done so already!
-No school on Tuesday and Friday for students
-Please make sure students are reading on EPIC everyday for at least 20 minutes
-Please submit lunch/income forms if you have not already done so.

Week of 10/26-10/30
Hello Families,
I hope everyone had a nice weekend! There are just 2 weeks left of Quarter 1 remote learning! Please ensure you have completed all outstanding assignments as soon as possible! Kindergarten families, please refer to your student's homeroom teacher blogs/Google Classroom pages as to how Kindergarten will be graded.
Additionally, it is essential students are reading for at least 20 minutes every day (aside from the time given in class).
Lastly, Ray purchased a school wide license for IXL and therefore student usernames/passwords did change when I switched over their accounts to the school account. I have updated this on assignments as well as posted a document on the stream page of my google classroom with the updated usernames/passwords.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hello Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
As we head into week 7, please be sure students are turning in work on time and if students complete any work on paper, please be sure to send it to me via email or upload to Google Classroom so I can give students credit. As I am reviewing grades in gradebook, many students are losing points due to not turning in any assignments or missing class. Below are both the synchronous/asynchronous work students in each grade are expected to complete if they see me for that specific subject. Many of these assignments are being completed in class throughout the entire week.
Kindergarten Math/Reading: Choice Board, additional worksheets/activities assigned throughout the week, IXL, EPIC
2nd Grade Math: Choice Board, additional worksheets/activities assigned throughout the week, IXL
2nd Grade Reading/Writing: Choice Board, reading log, additional worksheets/activities assigned throughout the week, IXL, EPIC
3rd Grade Reading/Writing: 1 weekly skill assignment, 1 individualized weekly skillwork assignment, read on EPIC!, 1 writing prompt assignment
3rd Grade Math: Daily math warm up (1 per day-Monday-Thursday), IXL, Everyday Math Journal pages, 1 individualized weekly skillwork assignment, 1 check for understanding (in class on Friday's)
Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions!

- Ray Warrior Wednesday, 11/18 is Our first virtual report parent conference day. We will not have remote learning classes on this day. Please contact your student’s classroom teacher for an appointment time.
- Local School Council (LSC) elections are next week! Please cast your vote for LSC candidates. Mail-in ballots will be accepted through November 30, 2020, if postmarked by the date of the election. We encourage all families to vote by mail, if possible. CPS parents and guardians should have received a mail-in ballot earlier this month. CPS has put several health and safety protocols in place to make sure everyone remains healthy and safe while voting and we ask that you stay home if you are not feeling well. However if needed, Wednesday, November 18. Schools will be open for “voting only” from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Typically, the principal’s state of the school address is given on the same day as report card conference day. Principal Neely’s preference is for you to devote that day with your student’s classroom teacher and other adults that first-hand drive your student’s academic and social-emotional learning. Please save the date for the State of the Ray report which will be virtually delivered next Monday, November 23, 2020, at 3PM.

Thank you again for your continued support and I am looking forward to a great 2nd quarter of learning!

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
As we head into week 7, please be sure students are turning in work on time and if students complete any work on paper, please be sure to send it to me via email or upload to Google Classroom so I can give students credit. Week of 10/5-10/9
Hello Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. I wanted to send a few quick reminders for the week:
1. Grades for progress reports are due this week. Please ensure students complete any missing work. If students have completed work on paper, be sure to take a picture and email it to me by the end of the day on Wednesday so I can give them credit for the assignment. This applies to work from weeks 1-4 (not this week)
2. Below is the link to the 3rd Grade breakout room for the morning session. When students see me (either at 9:15 or 10:15-depending on what time your student comes to me in the morning) please have them use this link, which will take them directly to our 3rd grade breakout room, rather than entering the main room first. If students have trouble logging on they may always go into the main room first, however, I am hoping this cuts down on the transition time to get students from one breakout room to the next.
https://g.co/meet/orangegrouprayschool
3. Below is the link to the Kindergarten breakout room for the morning sessions. I wanted to share with you the breakout room link so that students can go directly to this meeting room when they see me at 9:25, rather than coming into the main room first.
https://g.co/meet/bluegrouprayschool
4. 3rd Grade Families, please refer to the email I sent out last week regarding assignment changes and please let me know if you have any questions.
5. Please make sure you complete the required CPS forms by 10/15
Return Options Electronic Option - Send an email to Sonia Vergara, [email protected], and Shantel Anthony, [email protected] off at the school - Main Entrance, Printed Copies are available
6. The resources for learning, virtual libraries as well as the break break/mindfulness tabs on google classroom are all excellent resources to check out, especially during asynchronous learning.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Thank you and I am looking forward to another great week of learning!

Week of 9/21-9/25
Hello Families,
Thanks again for another great week of learning during week 2! Student's are starting to get into more of a routine with their classwork and schedules. As a reminder, if any student needs a screen time break at any point in the day, please let me know and I can always assign activities that are non-screen based. Here are a few reminders for the week:
1. Choice Board: If your student sees me for math and literacy (both or just 1), they will complete a choice board throughout the week. This will primarily be the asynchronous work they will complete while offline or while not directly working with me in a small group. There is one for math and one for literacy. On some activities there will be a small pencil (not the one with my bitmoji on it). These activities with the small pencil ask the students to turn in those activities by the end of the week. They will be skills students are working on for that week, so it is important they complete them! To turn them in, you may either add a slide to the choice board slide and paste the picture of the work on the slide or add it as an attachment to the choice board assignment.
2. Students can turn in work on Saturday/Sunday. I will provide feedback by Monday morning. Work may be under the "missing section" if the due date is a previous day, however, students can still access it and complete the assignment.
3. I will be assessing 3rd grade this week in literacy for small group instruction, so 3rd grade students may have more time to complete asynchronous work during the day. I will let which students know who is being assessed and when. My intent was to get this done last week with the other grades, however, I was unable to.
4. Please sign up for Remind (www.remind.com)

Week of 9/14-9/18
Hello Families,
Thank you again for your support and flexibility last week. As we head into week 2, I wanted to send a few quick reminders
1. 3rd Grade-I have sent out separate and individual emails in regards to the schedule change
2. This week, I will be labeling the assignments under the grade/subject area by the day. For example: "Monday-Daily math Warm Up" so students will know what day to complete the assignment. Most assignments will be posted day by day, with the exception of a few where I have labeled them "week of 9/14-9/18" as students can work on it the entire week. As a reminder, to "turn in" assignments, students will need to go back to the assignment (not the google document or slide) to click the "turn in" button. I am also assigning reading logs, for students to document their daily reading each day. These will be due on Friday and will be a reading homework grade.
3. Please continue to look at the student schedules so students know when to come to my class. On Monday and Tuesday and possibly Wednesday, I will be assessing students in math and reading to see where they are at. Students who are not being assessed will still have assignments to complete.
4. Please sign up for Remind if you have not already done so!
*Please complete the back to school forms:

Thank you and I am looking forward to another great week!
Please see below for 3rd Grade Schedule Update:
Hello 3rd Grade Families,
Thank you again for a great week! After some thought and consideration, two third grade classes have decided to modify their daily schedule. If students are in Mrs. Garcia's class, they are not affected by the change at all and will come to me at the scheduled time that they have been coming to me. For Ms. Annorh's and Mrs. Francek's class, I will be sending out individual emails and Remind messages letting you know of the change.
Additionally, this week (Monday-Thursday) from 8:00-8:30 and from 2:00-3:45, third grade is sending home student math journals, as well as I have some materials and supplies for students to take home as well. There will be a teacher passing out the supplies by the Auditorium Doors. If these times do not work for you, please let me know and we can find another time.
Please continue to look at Google Classroom for daily assignments. This week they will be labeled by the day, so students will know what assignments to complete each day this week.
Thank you again and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hello Families,
Please make sure your child is enrolled in both my Google Classroom (MS. FULLETT K-3 DIVERSE LEARNERS) and their Homeroom Google Classroom. The goal is to make sure all students are enrolled in Google Classroom by the first day of school (9/8/2020). Please email me ([email protected]) if you do not know your child's CPS username and I can set you up. All students should either be enrolled in my Google Classroom or have received an "invite" in which they will just need to join the class.
Students can find the weekly assignment list, any work to be completed and submitted and materials for break breaks, mindfulness and reading. Students will be provided a weekly list of activities to complete and submit through Google Classroom. It will be assigned under their respective grade level and subject they see me for.
Your student has received their invite to the Google classroom in their CPS.EDU Google email.
Students should:
- Go to google.cps.edu
- Enter their information as requested and set any security questions.
- Once logged in, they will see their mailbox with all email received to date. Since they have never had the option to use their accounts, there might be a bunch of old email. They can delete most of it.
- The Classroom and Site can be found by clicking on the series of boxes (arranged in a 3X3 array) at the top left corner of the screen.
- There will also be an invite to the classroom in their email.
Additionally, I have posted a quick getting to know your child assignment that will allow me to get to know them better and gather information on remote learning preferences! Please go to the "classwork" tab at the top of the Google Classroom Home
Week of 6/15-6/19
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! It is hard to believe this is our last week of school! This year will certainly be one to remember and I wanted to take the time to thank everyone for their hard work, dedication and cooperation throughout this entire year, especially these last 3 months during remote learning. I am so proud of everyone and their hard work and effort they put in this year. Take time to relax and enjoy the summer.
Final grades have been submitted and this week we will be engaging in fun reading and math activities during our class lessons, as well as I will post activities daily for students to engage in! I would love it if everyone can participate in our class meetings each day this week (Mon-Thurs) so we can all end the year together and celebrate our accomplishments! Although no one imagined our school year would end this way, it is important we all get together one last time. There will be no Wilson lessons on Wednesday this week, however, as mentioned we will have our class meetings each day at 10:00 am.
We will be celebrating student accomplishments by handing out awards this week as well!

Week of 4/27-5/1
I hope everyone had a great weekend! This week's assignments are below.
In addition, I have attached a daily checklist as suggestions for completing work each day. Please know this is only a suggested list and do what works best for you and your student.
I sent out an email last week about meeting virtually with students to check in and say hello with Ms. H and I. If you did not get back to me, please let me know what days/times work best to meet! On the Google Classroom stream page, I have attached 2 videos that walk through how to navigate different components of Google Classroom and Google Meet.
Students should be submitting work through Google Classroom only. Please talk to me if this is an issue, however, each assignment is set up with a google document or google form to fill out and submit and I am able to grade it and give feedback immediately. This also helps me to keep track assignments in one place.
Lastly, remote learning has been a learning experience for all of us. I welcome any comments and/or suggestions you have regarding the work, time frame, accessibility etc. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and will help me to tailor and change assignments/tasks accordingly to meet all student needs while learning from home.
Thank you and have a great week!

Week of 3/23-3/27
I will be sending out weekly emails every Sunday night/Monday morning for tasks that students should complete by Friday to help maintain some type of schedule and normalcy for students during this time. This will begin next week (3/30). This week, please continue to work on the review activities and the packet assigned, along with IXL and some of the non-technology activities listed below.
I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe! I miss all of our students and can't wait to be back in the classroom soon. I have created an IXL account for students to practice their math and reading skills on. Each week I will suggest new skills in both areas that students should be working on, along with the activities and tasks listed each week and in student work packets. Below are directions on how to access the tasks:
-Please go to: https://www.ixl.com/signin
-I have sent out individual emails and dojo messages with student usernames and passwords. Please email me if you did not receive one. Once students log into IXL with their username and password, make sure they are on the "recommendations tab." Once there, in the upper right corner there will be a small yellow star that says "___skills suggested by your teacher." Please click on that and work through the skills I have assigned. Each week I will assign new skills in both math and reading. This week's math skills are a review of current skills students have been working on and reading focuses on main idea, along with a short writing exercise that has students place sentences in the correct order. I will be tracking student progress throughout the week in order to determine individualized content material for the upcoming week. As always, please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
In addition, students were writing their autobiographies before the school closure and should continue to write: who they are, where they live, their age, where they were born, where they currently live, who they live with, their skills, their hobbies/what they like to do, their hopes and dreams, further education, what matters most to them, what they want to be when they grow up and why, how they want to help improve the world and why.
Per CPS guidelines, the work completed can be graded to help the student's grades. Please ensure your student completes the assigned work!
